Luteoviruses affected energy reserves and fatty acid composition of their aphid vectors

Abstract: Plant viruses are transmitted by insects in three different modes: non-persistent, semi-persistent and persistent (Nault, 1997). The persistent mode is further categorized based on the replication or no replication of the virus within the insect body as propagative and non-propagative, respectively (Hogenhout et al., 2008).Luteoviruses are RNA viruses transmitted by aphids in a persistentnon-propagative mode (Gray & Gildow, 2003;Hesler et al., 2005;Hogenhout et al., 2008).
