Abstract:Mg/Ca ratio in stalagmites primarily serves as an indicator of past hydrological conditions rather than temperature variations. Here, we present an Mg/Ca ratio record in a stalagmite from northern China, spanning ice age termination II. A unique finding is that Mg/Ca ratio shows a moderately strong positive correlation with cave air temperature obtained from clumped isotopes data in the same stalagmite.
