“…For instance, turbine blades of high strength are manufactured at a low cost using this technique. Using this technique, fabrication of glass fiber reinforced fly ash composites with (0, 5,10, and 15 wt.%) reinforcements has been reported [6]. In addition, fabrication of Eglass/epoxy-based composite slabs has been reported with Al2O3, magnesium hydroxide, hematite powder [19].…”

“…The former is used in the preparation of ultra-light composites due to their low density when compared to the density of metal matrix whereas, the latter is used for the enhancement of properties which include density, wear resistance, stiffness and strength [10], [11]. Fly ash is a major industrial waste from thermal power plants and is highly abundant in nature owing to its low cost coupled with low density [6], [12]- [14]. Table.…”

“…One advantage of metal matrix composites is the ability to modify the thermal properties, such as thermal conductivity and coefficient of thermal expansion through the proper control of reinforcement and matrix. In addition, the manufacturing flexibility of the metal matrix composite by various processes allows the fabrication of complicated shaped parts [3,4]. Aluminium metal matrix composites are desired engineering material for aerospace, automobile and mineral processing industries for various high performing components that are being used for varieties of applications [5]; owing to their lower weight and excellent thermal conductivity properties [6].…”

“…The effect of reinforcements and machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut on surface roughness, which greatly influence the performance of the machined product, were analyzed during turning operation. Rao et al, (2014) investigated the machining behavior of Al6061-flyash composite in Jobber XL CNC by using M2 grade HSS and K10 grade carbide inserts as cutting tools. The investigated result conclude that the increased fly ash content in the composites of Al6061 reduces the premature failure of the cutting tool by reducing built up edge formation.…”
