Φυσιs κρυπτεσθαι φιλει (Nature likes to hide itself)Heraclitos.ABSTRACT. The Kärkejokk (jokk = Lappish for brook) is rich in sulfate and calcium, both elements having been considered enigmatic. To resolve these problems we collected waters at 13 sites during 27 June to 1 September 1996. Nine sites were in the Kärkevagge, and the others in the drainage towards lake Torne Träsk. Rain waters were collected the same period. Conductivity, pH, and temperature were measured in the field, whereas salt load and the elements Na, K, Ca, Mg, S, Si, Fe, Al, Mn, Zn, Sr, and Ba were determined in the laboratory.Mixing models based on rain water and leaching products of the major bedrocks do not explain observed element patterns except in the lower parts of the jokk. However, oxidation of pyrite has formed acid, sulfate-rich solutions that released Ca and Mg from limestones, and Fe, Mn, Al, and Si, from black shales (Malmsten 1998;Malmsten et al. 2000). Conservative mixing models, using rain water, leached bedrock and pyrite, match the jokk waters quite well, and sulfur isotope data corroborate these findings. The nearby Låktajokk, and Vassijokk also contain much S.Where these waters debouch they may deposit Si, Al, and Ca, but only little S on various rocks. Total rock analyses, thermodynamic and X-ray data suggest that gypsum, barite, or alunite are not formed in major quantities.These models show that the hydrogeochemistry of the Kärkejokk may be less enigmatic than often assumed.

Pod generated by Monte Carlo simulation using a meta-model based on the simSUNDT software AIP Conf.A fast integral equation based scheme for computing magneto-static fields and its application to NDE problems AIP Conf.ABSTRACT. The simSUNDT software is based on a previous developed program (SUNDT). The latest version has been customized in order to generate realistic synthetic data (including a grain noise model), compatible with a number of off-line analysis software. The software consists of a Windows®-based preprocessor and postprocessor together with a mathematical kernel (UTDefect), dealing with the actual mathematical modeling. The model employs various integral transforms and integral equation and enables simulations of the entire ultrasonic testing situation. The model is completely three-dimensional though the simulated component is two-dimensional, bounded by the scanning surface and a planar back surface as an option. It is of great importance that inspection methods that are applied are proper validated and that their capability of detection of cracks and defects are quantified. In order to achieve this, statistical methods such as Probability of Detection (POD) often are applied, with the ambition to estimate the detectability as a function of defect size. Despite the fact that the proposed procedure with the utilization of test pieces is very expensive, it also tends to introduce a number of possible misalignments between the actual NDT situation that is to be performed and the proposed experimental simulation. The presentation will describe the developed model that will enable simulation of a phased array NDT inspection and the ambition to use this simulation software to generate POD information. The paper also includes the most recent developments of the model including some initial experimental validation of the phased array probe model.

La tesis fundamental de este libro se centra en el concepto filosófico bionetopraxis, entendido como aquella práctica de gobierno que incide y gestiona la vida a partir de una serie de prácticas digitales que configuran unos nuevos modos de concebir al individuo y a las sociedades. Bionetopraxis es una palabra compuesta de tres categorías —bíos, net y praxis— que presenta, desde la perspectiva lingüística, un tipo de realidad ontológica. Bíos es una palabra griega que significa vida, existencia, duración de la vida, medios de vida, humanidad, mundo, residencia, morada5 . El bíos se constituye en aquella posibilidad de ser, de existir, no solo en una realidad llamada mundo, sino inserta en un ecosistema cultural que define a través de un sistema de ideas vitales la comprensión de los seres humanos. Significa la vida cultural6 , una vida construida a través de dispositivos tecnológicos que configuran unas nuevas ontologías al conectar a cada individuo con la naturaleza digital
