Magnetic and ESR investigations of Sm6(Mn1−x Fex)23 compounds for 0 <x < 0.55 in the paramagnetic range

Abstract

Results of magnetic and ESR investigations are given of Sm,(Mnl -zFez)23 compounds for 0 < x < < 0.55, above the magnetic ordering temperature Tc. Significant deviations from the Curie-Weiss law are found and also a strong field-dependence of the magnetic susceptibility in a wide temperature range above Tc. ESR investigations performed in the X-band in the temperature range from 150 to 400 K show an increase of the ESR signal with the increase of Fe concentration in the compound and also anomalous temperature variations of the ESR parameters. The results of the magnetic and ESR investigations are interpreted assuming the formation of magnetic Fe clusters for compounds with x > 0.2. Ergebnisse von magnetischen und ESR-Untersuchungen an Sm,(Mnl -zFez),,-Verbindungen fiir 0 < z < 0,55 oberhalb der magnetischen Ordnungstemperatur Tc werden mitgeteilt. Signifikante Abweichnungen vom Curie-WeiBschen-Gesetz werden gefunden und eine starke Feldabhiingigkeit der magnetischen Suszeptibilitat in einem weiten Temperaturbereich oberhalb To EPR-Unterwchungen im X-Band und im Temperaturbereich von 150 bis 400 K zeigen einen Anstieg des ESR-Signals mit der Fe-Konzentration der Verbindung und auch anomale Temperaturiinderungen der ESR-Parameter. Die Ergebnisse der magnetischen und ESR-Untersuchungen werden unter der Annahme einer Bildung von magnetischen Fe-Clustern fur Verbindungen mit 5 > 0,2 interpretiert.
