Magnetic covalent organic frameworks for extraction and determination of endocrine‐disrupting chemicals in beverage and water samples

Abstract

BackgroundPhenolic endocrine‐disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are widespread and easily ingested through the food chain and pose great threat to human health. Duo to the low level of phenolic EDCs and complex food and environment matrix, magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) is an effective sample pre‐treatment technology to determine trace phenolic EDCs.ResultsMagnetic covalent organic frameworks (Fe3O4@COFs) nanospheres were prepared and well characterized. The efficient and selective extraction of phenolic EDCs relies on large specific surface and inherent porosity of COFs and the hydrogen bonding, π‐π and hydrophobic interactions between COF shell and phenolic EDCs. Under the optimal conditions, the proposed MSPE‐HPLC‐UV based on Fe3O4@COFs method for phenolic EDCs show good linearities (0.002‐6.000 μg mL‐1) with R2 (≥0.995) and low limit of detections (6.000‐1.200 ng mL‐1).ConclusionFe3O4@COFs with good MSPE performance for phenolic EDCs are synthesized by the solvothermal method. The developed Fe3O4@COFs based MSPE‐HPLC‐UV method is successfully applied to determine phenolic EDCs in beverage and water samples with satisfactory recoveries (90.200‐123.000%) and relative standard deviations (2.100‐12.100%).This article is protected by copyright.
