Magnetic Micro Swimming Mechanism and Visualization of the Surface Flow Induced by the Mechanism Propulsion

Abstract: The micro magnetic swimming mechanism was produced for trial purposes based on the swimming analysis of copepods in the beginning. The magnetic mechanism composed of a permanent magnet and polyethyleneterephthalate film fin swims by the alternating magnetic field. Frequency characteristics of the swimming mechanism were examined, and surface flow fields induced by the robot propulsion were analyzed by visualization method. The swimming properties of micro magnetic mechanism were revealed experimentally.
