Magnetic moment of the ρ meson in instant-form relativistic quantum mechanics

Abstract: We derive an explicit analytical expression for the magnetic dipole moment of the ρ meson, μ ρ , in a relativistic constituent-quark model. We adopt our relativistic approach to composite systems, modified instant-form (mIF) relativistic quantum mechanics (RQM), that we used particularly to construct a unified π & ρ model [Phys. Rev. D 93, 036007 (2016)] describing electroweak properties of light mesons. This model provides a parameter-free calculation to give μ ρ ¼ 2.16 AE 0.03 ½e/2M ρ which is in accordance … Show more

“…With inclusion of a contribution of the anomalous magnetic moment, M ρ = 2e/(2m ρ ). Reference [97] finds M ρ ≃ 2.2e/(2m ρ ), other existing calculations give other values. An important circumstance here is only that in general case η = e.…”

“…Here we use our version of RQM, -the modified instant form (mIF) of RQM , that was successfully used for various composite two-particle systems, namely, the deuteron [35], the pion [36][37][38][39], the ρ meson [40,41] and the kaon [42]. This model has predicted with surprising accuracy the values of the form factor F π (Q 2 ), which were measured later in JLab experiments [43][44][45][46][47] (see discussion in Ref.…”

“…In what concerns the calculation of the quadrupole moment of the ρ meson, the present paper is a continuation of our papers [40,41]. Using our approach we have constructed [40] the unified π&ρ model and have fixed all free parameters determining the radius of the ρ meson through its decay constant.…”

“…[25][26][27][28][29][30][31] for the deuteron and Refs. [32][33][34][35][36][37][38] for the ρ meson, respectively). Consequently, the electromagnetic form factors might also be discriminating quantities for studying the inner structure of the higher spin particle.…”
