Magnetic Properties and Magnetocaloric Effect of DyNi_{4}Si

Abstract: The magnetic properties and magnetocaloric eect (MCE) in DyNi4Si have been studied by the magnetization and specic heat measurements. The saturation magnetic moment in µ0H = 9 T is equal to 7.9 µB/f.u at 4.2 K. A signicant MCE has been observed around the second order phase transition at TC = 11 K. The maximum magnetic entropy change is −∆SM = 14.5 J kg −1 K −1 for the magnetic eld change of 9 T.
