Magnetic properties of a bi-fullerene-like structure, X60-Y60, with RKKY interactions in the Blume–Capel model

Abstract: In this paper, we study the influence of the physical parameters on the thermal and magnetic properties of a nano-particle of bi-fullerene-like structure X[Formula: see text]-Y[Formula: see text] separated by nonmagnetic spherical surfaces, using the Metropolis Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. The coupling between the two spheres containing the spins [Formula: see text] = 3/2 and the spins S = 7/2 belongs to the core and shell, respectively. This study is based on the RKKY (Ruderman–Kittel–Kasuya–Yoshida) interac… Show more

“…Moreover, Blume-Capel model was used to investigate the fullerene-like systems. 19,[46][47][48] In our investigation, we used 10 6 Monte Carlo steps per spin to get our data, removing the first 10 5 steps to make sure the fullerene-like system reaches equilibrium (Fig. 1).…”

“…19,20 In recent years, Monte Carlo simulations have played a crucial role in improving our understanding of various physical phenomena in materials science. These simulations have been used in a variety of research studies, including the magnetic properties of a bi-fullerenelike structure, X 60 -Y 60 with RKKY interactions, 19 magnetic properties in fullerene-like structures: X 20 , X 60 , or X 70 , 20 magnetic properties of mixed spin in a fullerene X 30 Y 30 -like structure, 21 dielectric properties and compensation behaviors of a monolayer naphthalene-like nano island, 22 dielectric properties of mixed spin-3/2 and spin-5/2 Ising ferrielectric nanowires, 23 dielectric properties of a monolayer nanographyne structure, 24 the investigation of the magnetic properties of core-shell Ising nanowires. 25 They have also been used to study dynamic phase transitions, electronic and magnetic properties in double perovskite materials such as Ba 2 NiWO 6 and Sr 2 NiWO 6.…”

“…More recently studies with MCS in hexagonal ferrimagnetic Ising nanowire [12], Blume Capel model [29] and Quantum Monte Carlo [13] show the appearance of plateaus and different forms of hysteresis loops. However, mixed spin core/shell systems have been less investigated.…”

“…Thus, they have been used in many applications, such as medical treatment of HIV [3][4][5], biomedical [6], magnetic refrigeration [7], drug delivery [8] and biological waste-water treatment [9]. Fullerene and its derivatives have extraordinary and impressive properties, such as superconductivity [10], magnetism [11][12][13][14][15][16][17], thermodynamic properties [18] and electrical properties [19][20][21].
