The effects of Ni and Co substitution for the antiferromagnetic Heusler compounds Ru 2 CrZ (Z = Si or Ge) are studied by measuring magnetic and transport properties and specific heat. Ni substitution appears to not extensively affect the antiferromagnetic state. This contrasts sharply with the case for Ru 2−x Fe x CrSi where spin-glass-like behavior was found. These results are further compared with those for Ru 1.95 Co 0.05 CrGe, indicating that the magnetic properties are largely changed by different substitutions in these compounds.
