Magnetotransport properties of dopedRuSr2GdCu2O8

Abstract: RuSr 2 GdCu 2 O 8 , in which magnetic order and superconductivity coexist with T mag ӷT c , is a complex material which poses new and important questions to our understanding of the interplay between magnetic and superconducting order. Resistivity, Hall-effect, and thermopower measurements on sintered ceramic RuSr 2 GdCu 2 O 8 are presented, together with results on a broad range of substituted analogs. The Hall effect and thermopower both show anomalous decreases below T mag , which may be explained within a … Show more

“…The magnetization [13] and NQR [14,15] results suggest that most of the electrons are localized resulting in Ru 4+ ions while magnetoresistivity and Hall measurements [2,16] suggest the existence of conductivity in magnetically ordered RuO 2 layers. We shall deal with this question in our doping study, where the number of charge carriers is modified by the replacement of Ru ions with Sn.…”

“…The ρ(T) data show that the electrical resistivity ρ(T) close to the onset of the critical temperature T c,onset ∼ 50 K is ∼ 10 mΩcm, a value within the range of other reported values for the pristine compound. [11][12][13] In addition, the commonly observed upturn in ρ(T) close to T c,onset is hardly seen in lightly doped samples, which attests to the high quality of the samples. However, an upturn in the x = 0.1 sample close to T c,onset is quite noticeable.…”

“…Some results regarding different cation substitutions in Ru-1212 have already been reported. [6,[10][11][12][13][14] However, only a fraction of them concern substitutions at the Ru site, in spite of their relevance, and given the currently unsolved configuration of spin and charge of Ru ions in Ru-1212 compounds. [11] Reported Ru substitutions include Sn +4 , Nb +5 , and Ta +5 .…”
