Maize Yield Response under Various Phosphorus Sources and their Ratios

Abstract: Improper use of fertilizers and its ratio is one of the main reasons for low productivity; therefore balance fertilization is required to maintain crop production and improved soil fertility. Therefore the experiment was carried out at Cereal Crop Research Institute (CCRI) Pirsabak, Distract Nowshera KP, Pakistan during Kharif 2016. To study the effect of different phosphorus (P) sources and their ratios on maize yield and yield components, an experiment was carried out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (R… Show more

“…Maximum grains s pike -1 was achieved by the application of higher dose phosphorus [ 47 ]. The integrated application of P fertilizer showed higher grains per ear in cereal (maize) field as compared to plot where sole fertilizer treated plots [ 48 ].…”

“…TGW of wheat plants was high significantly where fertilizers were applied in integrated form. Use of combined 50:50 of P organic and inorganic sources helps to improve grain yield as compared to control treatment [ 48 ]. Moreover, optimum dose of phosphorus application helped in achieving maximum 1000 grain weight [ 47 ].…”

“…However, care must be taken when interpreting these results, since the variations beyond the studied seeds and location were not examined. The decline in days to the tasselling, silking and anthesis stages ( Table 3 ), with the increase in P application, was observed in all varieties and this was in agreement with the work of Ali et al. (2019) and Ye et al.…”

“…28 Various application methods for ZnO NPs also showed a remarkable effect on wheat plants, including soil and foliar application or seed coating. 29 Seed coating with nutrient solution for a specific time is an easy and low-cost method that increases germination, decreases intrinsic physiological non-uniformity in germination, 30 and enhances growth, quality, and yield. 31 To address these knowledge gaps, our study aims to examine the interactions of ZnO NPs application and two P levels on maize growth, yield, and nutrient absorption.…”
