Major Histocompatibility Complex Class I Chain-Related Gene Polymorphisms: Associated with Susceptibility to Kawasaki Disease and Coronary Artery Aneurysms

Abstract: MICB*rs2516400 polymorphisms and some MHC class I-related haplotypes are associated with KD susceptibility. MICB and MHC class I genetic variations might contribute to the pathogenesis of KD and CAL.

“…Past reports on the allelic distribution of MICB were of little information with regard to disease. A growing body of research now shows that MICB polymorphism is related to certain diseases . However, as HLA‐MICB‐MICA haplotypes have been reported in different people , this disease association may be secondary and due to LD with HLA alleles.…”

“…A growing body of research now shows that MICB polymorphism is related to certain diseases . However, as HLA‐MICB‐MICA haplotypes have been reported in different people , this disease association may be secondary and due to LD with HLA alleles. Some reported MICA‐MICB haplotypes were confirmed in our study, for example, MICB*005:02 was in strong LD with MICA*010 , and MICB*008 displayed distinct LD patterns with MICA*002:01 in the Li population.…”

“…In siblings of affected children it is 10 to 15-fold higher than the population incidence [18] and familial occurrence is described [19]. These observations suggest that disease susceptibility may be influenced by genetic and cultural factors [20]. …”

“…BAG6 polymorphism is associated with increased incidence of several autoimmune diseases such as Kawasaki syndrome and type I diabetes (Hsieh et al, 2011;Piras et al, 2014). As BAG6 influences numerous substrate proteins essential to immune regulations, it suggests a functional link between BAG6 and autoimmune disorders.…”
