“…Career development theory divides personal career development into five stages: growth, exploration, establishment, maintenance, and decline ( Super and Jordaan, 1973 ; Jordaan, 1977 ). Vocational college students are between the ages of 15 and 24, and are in the exploratory stage of career development ( Chen et al, 2021 ). Career exploration is a mental or physical activity undertaken by an individual to achieve career goals that includes both information seeking and awareness of self and environment so that the individual has a clearer orientation to the establishment of future career development goals ( Super and Knasel, 1981 ; Pavlova and Silbereisen, 2014 ).…”

“…Drawing on social cognitive career theory (Lent et al, 1994(Lent et al, , 2002 and the career selfmanagement model (Lent and Brown, 2013;Lent et al, 2016), CDSE is a strong predictor of many career-related attitudes and behaviors. For instance, scholars found CDSE is positively related to career adaptability (Parola, 2023;Stead et al, 2022), career commitment (Chen et al, 2021), career satisfaction (Kim et al, 2016) and career decidedness (Lee et al, 2022;Li et al, 2019;Penn and Lent, 2018) and negatively related to career indecision (Choi et al, 2011).…”

“…An individual with a strong sense of self-efficacy works harder to tackle challenges, while those with a low sense of self-efficacy may reduce their efforts or even drop out of their career objectives. The concept of career decision-making self-efficacy (Taylor and Betz, 1983 ), developed by prior research, was demonstrated as a critical factor for ensuring a sustainable career containing job satisfaction, intrinsic satisfaction (Peng and Mao, 2015 ), career choice commitment (Chen et al, 2021 ), and career exploration (Rogers et al, 2008 ). When female employees have a strong sense of self-efficacy toward a career, they maintain more interest and motivation in work and believe that they can effectively complete the job assignment and deal with difficulties in work through their own ability and knowledge; therefore, both job satisfaction and career commitment will be strengthened.…”
