“…However, generalisation of this metaanalysis is inappropriate since the longest follow-up in the included studies is only 7 years. Concerns of prolonged biliary reflux which may increase the likelihood of cholangitis and the risk of carcinogenesis has been raised [21][22][23]. In our study, the follow-up duration of HD group was shorter than in HJ group since laparoscopic HD was introduced later than HJ reconstruction, therefore the longterm impact of intermittent sterile biliary reflux in our HD group is still not certain.…”

“…However, various postoperative complications related to the pancreas, such as pancreatitis [1,2], pancreatic stones [3], and cancer [4][5][6], have been reported even after primary cyst excision. The rate of complications after cyst excision in children has been reported to be lower than in adults [7].…”

“…Carcinoma of the pancreaticobiliary system has a known association with choledochal cysts [1][2][3][4]. Preoperative diagnosis of carcinoma in the presence of a choledochal cyst can be extremely difficult with traditional imaging modalities, as the reported case demonstrates.…”

“…Choledochal cyst is a congenital anomaly associated with an increasing risk of pancreaticobiliary carcinoma with patient age [1][2][3][4][5]. The cyst, particularly when large, may distort or compress adjacent structures, making evaluation by computed tomography (CT) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) difficult.…”
