“…This research uses a nationally representative data source from Honduras to examine the recent associations between a common proxy for children's health and nutritional status, socioeconomic inequality and differential parental investment within the context of a developing nation with high levels of inequality. Some work has been done within Honduras on children's health from the perspective of economic development (Smith,2002), effects of natural disasters (Barrios et al,2000; Moll et al,2007), and some descriptive findings on general child nutrition (Gray et al,2006; Nestel et al,1999a,b) document general disparities by socioeconomic status (Declerque et al,1992) and geographic region or as a result of specific pathogens (Dekaminsky,1991; Giron et al,2006) although none of these studies use nationally representative datasets.…”
