Management of 219 Consecutive Cases of Postcatheterization Pseudoaneurysm

Abstract: The first measure performed in the treatment of pseudoaneurysms should be reapplication of a compression bandage, followed, if necessary, by UGCR. After failure of UGCR, spontaneous healing occurs in the majority of patients. Operation can be reserved for progressive and complicated lesions.

“…Consistently to spontaneous thrombosis, pseudoaneurysms with longer necks (>10mm) exhibit higher rates of success [39]. Ongoing anticoagulation limits the success of both spontaneous thrombosis and ultrasound-guided compression therapy [34,39]. The percutaneous and sonographically monitored instillation of pro-coagulative agents (mostly bovine thrombin) directly into the aneurysm-sac as fi rst described almost 30 years ago [40], has been demonstrated to be highly eff ective [41] and is currently considered the golden standard of care.…”

“…Według różnych autorów częstość występo-wania tętniaka rzekomego tętnicy udowej waha się od 1 do 10% i zależy od rodzaju wykonanego zabiegu naczyniowego [1][2][3][4].Szczególną trudność w postępowaniu mogą sprawiać nieuszypułowane tętniaki rzekome, leżące tuż obok miejsca nakłucia ściany tętnicy udowej. Ucisk głowicą ultrasonograficzną takiego tętniaka jest utrudniony, ponieważ technika ta polega głównie na kompresji szyi tętniaka (zahamowanie przepływu krwi od tętnicy do tętniaka).…”
