“…We therefore examined trust in media, political, and scientific institutions as a mediator in the relationship between populist attitudes and compliance-related attitudes and behaviors during the COVID-19 pandemic. This assumption is consistent with recent evidence from mobility analyses during the COVID-19 pandemic that linked the support of populist movements and leaders with less social distancing at an aggregated level (e.g., Ansell et al, 2021; Gollwitzer et al, 2020). Moreover, analyses of internet usage in Germany also provided aggregated data that linked protest against COVID-19 measures to social media use, populist movements (e.g., QAnon, Querdenken ), and far-right political actors (Jarynowski et al, 2020).…”

“…Moreover, QRP/M during data collection are arguably particularly problematic be cause data collection is still a "black box. " Even clear rules regarding open data (e.g., how to prepare and upload data for reuse), for example, by the German Psychological Society (Gollwitzer et al, 2021), are mostly ineffective if this data is (un)intentionally manipulated during its collection process. Consequently, QRP/M during data collection are often very difficult to detect and it is, currently, hard or even impossible to tell if (open) data is of good quality.…”

“…The latest recommendations of the German Society for Psychology on the management and provision of psychological research data (Gollwitzer et al, 2021) formulate strict requirements regarding personally identifiable data of participants. This includes the necessity to anonymize or pseudonymize subject data in a way that it prevents a reidentification based on any surveyed subject characteristics -even when these characteristics have been sampled in different studies.…”
