Managing shared contexts in distributed multi-player game systems

Abstract: In this paper, we consider the impact of a weaker model of eventual consistency on distributed multi-player games. This model is suitable for networks in which hosts can leave and join at anytime, e.g., in an intermittently connected envi ronment. Such a consistency model is provided by the Secure Infrastructure for Networked Systems (SINS) [24], a reliable middleware framework. SINS allows agents to communicate asynchronously through a distributed transactional key-value store using anonymous publish-subscrib… Show more

“…It can adopt the space-based and the class-based schemes. Principally, the interest manager module is a federate that follows the general publish-subscribe model of interest management, which is inherently adopted in the HLA standard [18]. Publishers are entities that send data, whereas subscribers are entities that receive data.…”

“…The bucket synchronization algorithm [6][7] was proposed by C.Diot and L.Gautier, which was first used in multiplayer online games MiMaze for DIS-based simulation based on serverless P2P architectures. In this paper, some of the ideas of bucket synchronization algorithm are borrowed, and the synchronization algorithm of frame bucket locking is proposed based on the idea of online game synchronization.…”
