Managing the knowledge lifecycle: A integrated knowledge management process model

Abstract: The main purpose of this study is to propose an integrated conceptual model for exploring knowledge management process. Reviewing literature on knowledge management and tracing its historical background, definitions and dominant paradigms and analysis 32 frameworks of KM, a relatively integrated model of KM was presented in this paper. The study found many similarities of models and its presents a model which combine all the best features of the models analyzed. A 10-stage integrated model was proposed. These … Show more

“…These two paradigms can be illustrated in a continuum with a range from IT-based/Hard/Calculative/Mechanistic/Scientific paradigm to a Social/Organic/Soft/Humanistic one. In reality, juncture and coproximity orientations of each paradigm stem from ontological and epistemological assumptions on KM's nature [17]. Those two paradigms lead to two KM approaches/ perspective.…”

“…Those two paradigms lead to two KM approaches/ perspective. The first is IT-focused, where organizations approach KM in a mechanistic, systematic and techno-centric way to enhance knowledge integration and creation [2,17]. The second is HR-focused, where firms' orientation to KM is more ecological-focused and people-centric, aiming to increase employee interaction and to flourish employee behaviors and an organizational culture that enhances KM activities such as knowledge sharing and creation [2,17].…”

“…In this context, knowledge is the primary commodity; the collective knowledge of human expertise through their abilities, experience and interaction with the person’s environment has become such a critical resource to reinvest (Chatzoudes et al , 2015). In this era of global economics, knowledge is recognized as the only source of wealth production, while creating and applying the knowledge is the main source for an enterprise in achieving its sustainable competitive advantages (Hongmei et al , 2013; Kumar and Ganesh, 2011; Hosseingholizadeh, 2014). Toward this achievement, most organizations attempt to become aware of their individual and collective knowledge and to apply modern technologies to make the most effective and efficient use of the obtained knowledge to influence their strategic goals and organizational excellence (Sathishkumar and Karthikeyan, 2017).…”

“…During the literature search, no papers referring to the life cycle of security knowledge were identified. However there is general work about knowledge management in place, which describes the life cycle of knowledge in general like (Andriani et al, 2014;Hosseingholizadeh, 2014;Evans, Dalkir and Bidian, 2014). This work can serve as a basis for the ICS security knowledge life cycle design.…”
