“…[6] In view of the association between excessive sodium intake and fluid retention, restricted salt intake is the nonpharmacological self-care measure most commonly prescribed to patients with HF. [4,7,8] Despite recurring efforts by healthcare providers to advise patients of the risks of elevated sodium intake, poor treatment adherence or nonadherence has been identified as one of the leading precipitating factors of HF decompensation. [7,[9][10][11] Data from the literature indicating that nonadherence is among the major precipitating factors of decompensation.…”

[7,[9][10][11] Data from the literature indicating that nonadherence is among the major precipitating factors of decompensation. In a US registry which identified the etiology of decompensation in more than 50,000 patients, nonadherence was the third leading cause.…”

“…It is important to highlight that ADHF requires a careful evaluation in the first hours after admission and this evaluation is often carried out by nurses in emergency services (3) . This evaluation should address the signs of congestion or low output in order to rapidly impose measures that can reverse this acute condition and improve clinical in-hospital outcomes (6,12) .…”

“…In many reference centers, patient triaging in the emergency services or units is performed by nurses (3,6) . Therefore, it would be interesting if nurses were allowed to combine this score with their clinical assessment to support clinical reasoning and make a more accurate nursing diagnoses (ND).…”

“…Em relação à proporção das respostas das variáveis que compõem o escore de adesão ao tratamento, identificou-se que o controle do peso corporal e a ingestão de líquidos foram as recomendações menos aderentes. Esses dados corroboram o estudo multicêntrico brasileiro que evidenciou, entre as medidas não farmacológicas, que a restrição de líquido foi a menos executada (15) . Sabe-se que o paciente com IC deve ser orientado a restringir a quantidade diária de líquidos em torno de 1.000 a 1.500 ml.…”
