Manifestation of incompatibility of marine residual fuels: a method for determining compatibility, studying composition of fuels and sediment

Abstract: The results of studying the problem of active sediment formation when mixing residual fuels, caused by manifestation of incompatibility, are presented. A laboratory method has been developed for determining the compatibility and stability of fuels allowing identification of a quantitative characteristic of sediment formation activity. Laboratory studies were performed, and incompatible fuel components were identified. Tests were made to determine the quality indicators of samples and group individual compositi… Show more

“…As can be observed from the above equations, the movement of oil in the structural regime is not amenable to analytical solution and requires a search for empirical formulas for hydraulic calculations. To determine the Ilyushin criterion, it is necessary to study the rheological characteristics of oil, which will determine the law of change in rheological characteristics, depending on the temperature and mode of motion [27][28][29][30][31].…”

“…The quality of motor fuels determines the operational and environmental characteristics of vehicles (4)(5)(6). The group chemical composition of motor fuels is the determining factor in the formation of their quality indicators and operational properties (7,8). To search the individual hydrocarbon composition of light motor fuels (petrol, paraffin, diesel fuel), the method of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) is quite effective.…”

“…Drilling wells is necessary to extract oil and gas from productive formations located deep underground (1)(2)(3). Drilling fluids play an essential role in the drilling process as they perform many functions, such as removing drill cuttings and controlling well pressure (4,5). Several chemicals are often used as additivies to the drilling mud.…”
