The manufacturing industry is facing the impact of a dynamic market and intensive competition. Many companies are looking for a new approach to improve their business activities in a collaborat ive business ecosystem with other stakeholders. Cloud computing enables the sharing of manufacturing resources and capabilities between different stakeholders to support business and physical production. The purpose of this resea rch is to explore approaches moving towards a cloud manufacturing ecosystem and present possible implications for practice. To fulfil the research objectives, a multiple-case study was conducted within sheet metal manufacturing companies. Business and technology related requirements for cloud-based collaborative manufacturing porta ls were collected through interviews with industrial practitioners from the sheet metal manufacturing perspective. Based on analysis a prototype model of a CloudEcosystem was presented to demonstrate the essential features of the portals. This research found that there are three different porta l types for cloud manufacturing ecosystems depending on the value chain configuration. Close to real-time information provided by cloud-based platforms can create manufacturing ecosystems where machine owners, product designers and customers may collaborate and compete simultaneously. The CloudEcosystem designed in this research can provide a practical tool and technical solution to help manufacturers think about moving towards cloud manufacturing ecosystem s.Ecosystems, web porta l, cloud platform, business collaboration, cloud manufacturing.

In order to realize the online allocation of collaborative processing resource of smart workshop in the context of cloud manufacturing, a multi-objective optimization model of workshop collaborative resources (MOM-WCR) was proposed. Considering the optimization objectives of processing time, processing cost, product qualification rate, and resource utilization, MOM-WCR was constructed. Based on the time sequence of workshop processing tasks, the workshop collaborative manufacturing resource was integrated in MOM-WCR. Fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) was adopted to simplified the multi-objective problem into the single-objective problem. Then, the improved firefly algorithm which integrated the particle swarm algorithm (IFA-PSA) was used to solve MOM-WCR. Finally, a group of connecting rod processing experiments were used to verify the model proposed in this paper. The results show that the model is feasible in the application of workshop-level resource allocation in the context of cloud manufacturing, and the improved firefly algorithm shows good performance in solving the multi-objective resource allocation problem.

Lean manufacturing is a common methodology widely used by manufacturers around the world. The keys in order to apply lean manufacturing are efficiency and continuous improvement. Efficiency can be achieved towards the utilization of technology between shopfloor and supporting business layers occurs in a system. One of the technologies that can be used is IoT (Internet of Things) and Cloud Manufacturing (CMfg) in specific. This paper contains the concept design of IoT technologies that will be applied in a car toys assembly line. Technology such as RFID, Sensors, and Android-based cloud services will be included in the assembly line system design. RFID and sensors are used to capture a number of components & subassembly parts that occur in the assembly line and the data captured will be forwarded to the ERP Systems. Android-based cloud services are used to monitor and control the systems especially for the shop floor area.
