-The objective of this work was to test the extrapolation of soil-landscape relationships in a reference area (RA) to a topographic map (scale 1:50,000), using digital soil mapping (DSM), and to compare these results to those obtained in similar studies previously conducted in Brazil. A soil survey in a 10 km 2 RA, using conventional mapping techniques (scale 1:10,000), was made in order to map a 678 km 2 physiographically similar area (scale 1:50,000) using DSM. The decision tree technique was employed to build a predictive extrapolation model based on soil classes and eight terrain attributes in the RA. The validation of DSM by application of field observation points resulted in a 66.1% global accuracy and in 0.36 kappa index. The most representative soils in the area were correctly predicted, whereas the less representative and less frequent soils in the landscape (and consequently with reduced sampling) had their prediction compromised. The RA proportion, which equals 1.5% of the total area, is a limiting factor in the formulation of soil-landscape relationships to precisely represent the mapped area by DSM.

Resumo -O objetivo deste trabalho foi predizer a fertilidade do solo no polo agrícola do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, por meio da modelagem solo x paisagem. A área de estudo compreendeu as regiões mais produtivas do Estado do Rio de Janeiro: Norte, Noroeste e Serrana. Características químicas do solo -pH em H 2 O e capacidade de troca catiônica (CTC) -e ambientais -elevação, plano de curvatura, perfil de curvatura, índice de umidade, aspecto e declividade do terreno, além de tipos de solos, índice de vegetação normalizada (NDVI), imagens Landsat 7 e litologia -foram utilizadas como variáveis preditoras. A análise exploratória dos dados identificou valores extremos, os quais foram expurgados, na preparação para a análise por regressão linear múltipla (RLM). Aos resultados da RLM, foram adicionados os resultados de krigagem dos resíduos da regressão, com uma técnica de mapeamento digital de solos (MDS) denominada regressão-krigagem. Na região Serrana, as variáveis ambientais explicaram as variáveis químicas. A variável NDVI foi importante nas três regiões, o que evidencia a importância da cobertura vegetal para a predição da fertilidade do solo. Em geral, os solos analisados apresentaram baixo pH. Os valores de CTC, nas regiões estudadas, estão dentro do intervalo considerado bom para a fertilidade do solo.Termos para indexação: mapeamento digital de solos, pedometria, regressão-krigagem, variabilidade espacial. Prediction of soil fertility of the agricultural hub of the state of Rio de Janeiro using soil x landscape modelingAbstract -The objective of this work was to predict soil fertility in the agricultural hub of the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, using soil x landscape modeling. The studied area comprised the most productive regions of the state of Rio de Janeiro: northern, northwestern, and Serrana (highlands). Soil chemical traits -pH H 2 O and cation exchange capacity (CEC) -and environmental variables -elevation, plane of curvature, curvature profile, moisture content index, aspect and slope of the terrain, in addition to soil types, normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), Landsat 7 images, and lithology -were used as prediction variables. Exploratory data analysis identified outliers, which were purged, in the preparation for analysis by multiple linear regression (MLR). The kriging results of the regression residuals were added to the results of MLR, using a soil digital mapping (SDM) technique known as regression-kriging. In the Serrana region, the environmental variables explained the chemical variables. The NDVI variable was significant in all three regions, showing the importance of vegetation cover for the prediction of soil fertility. Generally, the tested soils showed low pH. The CEC values in the studied regions are within the range considered good for soil fertility.

A B S T R A C TDetermining uniformity coefficients of sprinkle irrigation systems, in general, depends on field trials, which require time and financial resources. One alternative to reduce time and expense is the use of simulations. The objective of this study was to develop an artificial neural network (ANN) to simulate sprinkler precipitation, using the values of operating pressure, wind speed, wind direction and sprinkler nozzle diameter as the input parameters. Modelo em redes neurais artificiais para a simulação da precipitação na irrigação por aspersão R E S U M O A determinação dos coeficientes de uniformidade de distribuição da água dos sistemas de irrigação por aspersão depende, em geral, de ensaios em campo que envolvem tempo e recursos financeiros. Uma alternativa para reduzir custo e tempo é a utilização de simulações. Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, o desenvolvimento de um modelo em redes neurais artificiais (RNA) para simular a precipitação de um aspersor cujos parâmetros de entrada são os valores de pressão de operação, velocidade do vento, direção do vento e diâmetro do bocal do aspersor. Ensaios foram feitos em campo com um aspersor operando em uma malha de 16 x 16 coletores com espaçamento de 1,5 m e diferentes combinações de bocais, pressões e condições de vento. O modelo RNA apresentou bons resultados na simulação da precipitação com correlação de Spearman (r s ) entre os dados obtidos em ensaio de campo e os dados simulados, apresentando valores entre 0,92 e 0,97 e índice de concordância de Willmott (d) entre 0,950 e 0,991 para dez ensaios analisados. O modelo RNA mostrou-se promissor na simulação da precipitação em sistemas de irrigação por aspersão.
