Abstract:Let A be an algebra and let f (x1, . . . , x d ) be a multilinear polynomial in noncommuting indeterminates xi. We consider the problem of describing linear maps φ : A → A that preserve zeros of f . Under certain technical restrictions we solve the problem for general polynomials f in the case where A = Mn(F ). We also consider quite general algebras A, but only for specific polynomials f .
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
