Marble Slabs Classification System Based on Image Processing (Ark Marble Mine in Birjand)

Abstract: Marble is one of the semi-precious stones that has been used in decorating building façade and making decorative things. This stone is present in the nature in the form of rock or layered stone. Examining the kind of stone, extent of impurity and different streaks in white marble is a widely confronted subject by those who are involved in this industry. Obtaining the extent of impurity of white marble using methods of detecting and analyzing material is expensive and timeconsuming. In this research carried out… Show more

“…Table 2 compares and summarizes the review with our proposed work. Authors applied similar image processing approach in identifying and categorizing marble slabs impurities and streaks with 97.8% accuracy (Kardan Moghaddam et al, 2018). While other researchers applied Kalman filter to count vehicles captured by the camera (Espejel-García et al, 2017), applying Kalman filter to the captured data from the HSI is very slow, since the captured data are in a hypercube format not normal 2D.…”

“…Furthermore, having access to smart tools on-site can help reveal the true nature of a product and resolve the misunderstandings between customers and producers upon delivery. An example of such automated visual inspection systems designed for marble is presented in [11]. The advantages of these systems include: 1.…”
