Marginal adaptation of fixed prosthodontics

Abstract: The importance of Marginal adaptation of fixed Prosthodontics is to assess the smallest number of gap measurements on margins of single crowns to get relevant results for gap analysis. The most critical factors affecting Marginal adaptation of fixed Prosthodontics includes the material used, the type of finish line and other factors that include the finish line and the durability of the copings like the function of the firing procedures. The results of this study concluded that a perfect marginal is one of the… Show more

“…Having a better-adapted crown will increase the success and longevity of the crown. Variations in adaptation could lead to stress concentration which may in turn reduce the strength of the restoration and consequently cause its debonding and fracture [33]. This finding was in agreement with previous studies with regard to fracture resistance of post-core restorations [39,40,41].…”

“…This may be attributed to adhesion failure and to the fact that those endocrowns showed marginal discrepancy which might have led to gross fracture. This was in accordance with Halawani et al 2017 who stated that a good marginal fit seems to be one of the most important technical factors for the long-term success of any restoration and that the intaglio surface of a crown is critical for the retention and resistance of the crown. Having a better-adapted crown will increase the success and longevity of the crown.…”

“…In the case of fixed prosthodontics, the internal and marginal gaps are the essential factors to determine the long-term success of the restoration. This is why the prostheses adaptation is a subject that is still of interest for the prosthodontist and researchers [19,24,25].…”

“…3,4,5 Fixed partial dentures have been the treatment of choice for the replacement of missing teeth. 6 Missing teeth can damage mastication,self-esteem and also social interactions due to its effects on appearance and the ability to have a conversation. 7 Recently fixed prosthesis is more popular than removable prosthesis due to comfort, function and aesthetic.…”
