Marine diesel engine speed control based on adaptive state-compensate extended state observer-backstepping method

Abstract: The marine diesel engine propulsion system is a nonlinear system with time delay. In order to realize the accurate and real-time control of the marine diesel engine speed, a new method based on state-compensate extended state observer, backstepping method and beetle antennae search algorithm, that is, adaptive state-compensate extended state observer-backstepping, is proposed. First of all, the response relationship model between the engine speed and the fuel injection is established on the basis of the mean v… Show more

“…e proposed method can be applied to control issues of other systems which have known nonlinear terms. (2) In practical, the proposed method can maintain quick regulation and fewer tuning parameters of diesel engine speed under different external and system disturbances and has more practical significance compared with LADRC. Actually, the fuel injection signal of a marine diesel engine is usually maintained at several fixed positions for safety and economy.…”

“…Castillo et al, Zheng et al, and Gao proposed a linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC), which reduced its adjustment parameters to two, greatly promoting its industrial application [18][19][20]. Compared with the wide application and theoretical research of LADRC, it is noted that the nonlinear ESO proposed in this manuscript is rarely studied [2,21]. erefore, it is essential to further study the nonlinear extended observer.…”

“…e algorithm not only has individual and environment recognition abilities but also can ensure a compatible balance in the exploratory stages. Beetle antennae search algorithm has been used in many engineering fields, such as unmanned aerial vehicle avoidance [40] , path planning and control systems [41][42][43]. Although BAS has been widely used in engineering fields, it still has some shortcomings.…”

“…Wu et al [8] used BAS algorithm to optimize obstacle avoidance systems of UAV and robot separately. Xie et al [11] [12], [13] applied BAS to the design and optimization of ship collision avoidance system and precise control of marine diesel engine. In addition, BAS is applied to the design of power system and the construction of stock investment model [9], [14], [16], [17].…”
