Mass, Spacetime Symmetry, de Sitter Vacuum, and the Higgs Mechanism

Abstract: We address the question of the intrinsic relation between mass, gravity, spacetime symmetry, and the Higgs mechanism implied by involvement of the de Sitter vacuum as its basic ingredient (a false vacuum). Incorporating the de Sitter vacuum, the Higgs mechanism implicitly incorporates the generic relation between mass, gravity, and spacetime symmetry revealed in the frame of General Relativity for all objects involving the de Sitter vacuum. We overview two observational cases which display and verify this rela… Show more

“…Regular spherical solutions of this class have an obligatory de Sitter center provided that WEC is satisfied [90]. The mass of objects m = 4π ∞ 0 ρ(r)r 2 dr is generically related with the interior de Sitter vacuum and breaking of spacetime symmetry from the de Sitter group [90,91]. In the NED-GR solutions, the mass function M(r) in ( 15) is determined by the electromagnetic field density, ρ(r) = T t t (r) in (13).…”

“…Is there a connection between these solitons and the tachyons in SSB theories? The connection between tachyons and SSB has been investigated in [4,9] while, in [10], string mass stability is addressed like the stability of mass in SSB. Moreover, the connection between tachyons and bosonic D-brane theory has been made.…”

“…As a result, mass generation involves gravity produced by the de Sitter vacuum and the related de Sitter spacetime symmetry. The spontaneous symmetry breaking of scalar fields leads then to breaking of spacetime symmetry from the de Sitter group in the gravito-electroweak vertex to the Poincaré group in the region of a distant observer [1].…”

“…In the current literature, the relation between mass and the symmetry of spacetime has been considered in the context of the Lorentz symmetry breaking [2], and in the alternative Higgs-like mechanism for mass generation [3]. The relation of mass with gravity has been considered in the framework of the ratio gravity, in which the gravitational interaction is considered not as a universal interaction corresponding to a curved spacetime, but on an equal footing with other fields in the flat spacetime [4,5], and lepton and quark masses originate from the relevant SU2 algebras of gauge transformation [6] (for more details, see [1]).…”
