“…The IDDP-1 well was drilled into the meteoric water-dominated Krafla geothermal system in 2009 and encountered a superhot resource at about 2 km depth. The well delivered a low-density supercritical water with well head temperatures and pressures reaching up to about 450 • C and 145 bar before the well had to be abandoned due to multiple problems (Ingason et al, 2014;Thorbjornsson et al, 2020). The second well, IDDP-2, was drilled in 2016/17 into the saline Reykjanes systems by deepening a former production well (RN-15) to about 4500 m vertical depth.…”
