Abstract: Background There is limited research on the interaction between pre-pregnancy behaviours of folic acid intake and smoking, and breastfeeding duration. Pre-pregnancy folic acid intake and breastfeeding are health promoting behaviours benefiting mothers and infants, whereas smoking has adverse effects.
