Mathcad Functions For The Thermodynamic Properties Of Moist Air, Ammonia, Propane, And R 22

Abstract: in 1995in , and he received his M.S. (1997in ) and Ph.D. (2002 degrees in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University. Dr. McClain has taught classes in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, thermal systems design, convection heat transfer, internal combustion engines, and experimental design and uncertainty analysis.

“…The outdoor air (or fresh air) requirements depend on the type of building and the occupants. For example, for an office building with an occupancy of seven people per 1000ft 2 (100m 2 ), it is recommended a minimum outdoor airflow rate per person of 20ft 3 /min (10L/s). On the other hand, for an educational facility with an occupancy of fifty people per 1000ft 2 (100m 2 ), it is recommended a minimum outdoor airflow rate per person of 15ft 3 /min (7.5L/s).…”

“…2 A similar approach has been used by McClain and Smitherman. 3 They developed Mathcad functions to evaluate the thermodynamic properties of moist air, as well as ammonia, propane and Refrigerant 22. Typical psychrometric processes in buildings are covered using psychrometric formulations and the psychrometric chart, and the computations i.e.…”
