Mathematical Approach to the Flank Wear of High-Speed Steel Turning Tool in Diverse External Cutting Environments

Abstract: In this article, mathematical models of the High-Speed Steel (HSS) cutting tool flank wear in various external metal cutting environments are developed. Initially, the metal machining operation is conducted in a lathe by machining a cylindrical blank of Stal 45 (analog is AISI 1045) with a turning tool made of P6M5 (analog is AISI M2).
