Mathematical estimation for maximum flow of goods within a cross-dock to reduce inventory

Abstract:
<p>Supply chain management has recently renovated its strategy by implementing a cross-docking scheme. Cross-docking is a calculated logistics strategy where freight emptied from inbound vehicles is handled straightforwardly onto outbound vehicles, eliminating the intermediate storage process. The cross-docking approach thrives on the minimum storage time of goods in the inventory. Most of the cross-docks avail temporary storage docks where items can be stored for up to 24 hours before be… Show more

“…As discussed previously, the optimization process in the warehouse not only analyzes the current warehouse state but also provide proposals for improvement [54][55][56]. So, this proposed model is aimed to provide the following:…”

“…Cross-docking includes the integration of different middle forms like accepting the inbound items, deconsolidation, sorting, union, and, at long last, stacking the solidified items in outbound shipments to reach the clients [37]. Most of the logistic models within a cross-dock focus on reducing the total cost, the material handling cost [38], or the material flow [39] in forward distribution. However, with return process management turning into a significant field in different organizations, the extension of the benefits of cross-docking with reverse logistics has broadened accordingly [40].…”
