Mathematical Foundations for Modeling a Zero-Carbon Electric Power System in Terms of Sustainability

Abstract: This article substantiates the relevance of mathematical methods and models for studying the management of the factorial parameters of regulating the decarbonization of regions of the Russian Federation. We present methods for the mathematical modeling of greenhouse gas emissions and for approximating functions for the study of processes in the thermal power industry and the economy. New models and methods are shown to increase the efficiency of designing electric power systems (EPSs). We establish that divers… Show more

“…It captures the characteristics, behavior, and performance of its real-world counterpart and is utilized for analysis, monitoring, and simulation [13]. Digital twins are employed in multiple industries, such as manufacturing [14] and healthcare, to enhance comprehension, efficiency, and decision making. Digital twins are crucial for advancing battery technology and addressing challenges related to energy storage, control, and management.…”

“…For instance, during the recent global spread of the COVID-19 epidemic, mathematical modelling played an essential role in the simulation of behaviour, providing, in this way, an invaluable tool for making decisions [14][15][16]. Particularly in relation to sustainability, differential equations are used as mathematical models in different areas, like the sustainable management of marine resources [17], the study of the sustainability of an urban system in the presence of haphazard development activities that affect the urban population [18], and the development of zerocarbon electric power systems [19]. The increased attention being paid to mathematical modelling is also a factor that has attracted the attention of researchers in mathematical education.…”
