Mathematical Model of the Thermal-Air Regime of a Ventilated Attic

Abstract: This paper presents the developed mathematical models that characterize the thermal-air regime of a ventilated attic in the summer and winter seasons. The relevance of the mathematical models was shown and examples of applying these models to solve some engineering problems were presented. Mathematical models can be used to analyze and evaluate changes in the temperature and heat flux (the radiant and convective component) along the air movement in the attic and to select the materials for the roof and floor, … Show more

“…Autoclaved sand-lime bricks are very popular in Poland, Germany, Spain, Slovakia, and other countries in Europe. These types of materials, commonly called "silicates products", are construction materials providing a solid structure and comfortable interior microclimate [9,10]. Modifications of sand-lime bricks aim at optimizing the production process and replacing the quartz sand with another component.…”

“…The air supply is also brought by the leaks in the housing building. The amount of air flowing in this way is influenced by the wind (its direction and speed) that issue is differently undertaken in the literature by the authors (Piotrowski et al 2015;Zender-Świercz and Piotrowski 2011). However, due to the building high tightness the study focuses on the air inflow through individual air supply systems.…”

“…As an example, we should mention the following technologies: degassing of water, distillation homogenization of fuel, mixing of colloidal solutions, foam formation in the food industry, etc. Modern technologies for the insulating materials production [1], desalination of sea water with the help of isobutane hydrate [2][3][4], and obtaining of natural gas hydrate [5,6] for transportation and storage are also based on heat and mass transfer processes in the gas-liquid systems. Generally, formation and existence of gas-to-steam bubbles are accompanied by intensive heat transfer, mass transfer and phase transition processes.…”
