Mathematical model to optimize drilling-and-blasting operations in the process of open-pit hard rock mining

Abstract: Purpose is to determine a function of the reduced expenditures connected with drilling-and-blasting operations, loading and hauling operations, and rock fragmentation depending upon the cost of machine-shift of the applied facility, its operation modes, hardness of rock being blasted, cost of the used explosive, and rock fragmentation quality based upon the developed optimization mathematical model. Methods. Method of statistical evaluation of natural blockiness structure of the rock as well as quality … Show more

“…Moreover, it is critically important for the environmental and ecological sustainability of mineral resources mining [6]- [8]. The main objective of new technological solutions should be in the provision of sustainable development of a mining region both in terms of ecology and economy by involving greater volumes of the associate raw materials being today the mineral industry wastes [9]- [12]. However, in case of building industry those wastes can be a source of material production.…”

“…Respectively, GSI = 25 according to (5). By Rocklab pro gram data, incorporated in PHASE 2 code, for GSI = 25 the parameters of criterion ( 1) take values: m b = 0.033; s = = 0.0000037; α = 0.5313.…”

“…Therefore, steeper angles of the quarry sides are designed, which increas es the risk of the slope instability and the development of slid ing processes. Numerous cases of slope failure that occurred in quarries around the world require the development of a hazard assessment system based on monitoring the sides of ore quar ries [2][3][4], as well as mathematical models for the risk evaluat ing [4,5]. The slope stability estimation is mainly carried out through a combined analysis by the methods of limit equilib rium [6,7] and numerical simulation [8,9].…”

“…That is stipulated by the considerable heterogeneity of rocks occurring in the real rock mass, though it is not manifested during the sample testing. The mentioned dissimilarity may be considered by introducing the structural coeffi cient determined on the basis of a probabilistically statistic approach [19] .…”
