Maximum power point tracking for a photovoltaic power system

Abstract: for his guidance, supports and advices over the past two years. Without his supports and invaluable advices, I would not have been able to fulfill the dissertation. My best appreciation also goes to DSO National Laboratory, especially Dr. Goh Cher Hiang and Ms. Goh Lily, for the financial support and research materials throughout the course of this research. Special thanks to Mr. Zheng Chao for his helpful advices in developing Labview programs for the solar simulator and valuable research materials provided. … Show more

“…In order to track the MPP of the PV, many scholars put forward a number of MPPT control methods, including Constant Voltage Tracking(CVT), Perturbation and Observation method (P&O), Incremental Conductance method( INC), etc [7]. Now more commonly used method is P&O method, the principle is based on the relationship between the power and voltage of the operating point.…”

“…) method is to make some perturbations onto output voltage of PV array periodically, and then power value was measured to contrast with the former one. If the power value increases, the perturbation is in the right direction, then perturbation will be in the same direction in the next cycle; otherwise change perturbation direction [4].…”

“…In terms of the multi-energy system, output characteristics and control strategies should be considered, e.g. MPPT control strategy [8], to realize reasonable self-healing control hierarchical optimization framework of the distribution system based on advanced equipment research and the information technology. High penetration of distributed energy access to network brings new opportunities, but also challenges.…”
