Measurement and Correlation of the Liquid Density and Viscosity of HFO-1336mzz(Z) (cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-Hexafluoro-2-butene) at High Pressure

Abstract: This work reported experimental measurements of the density and viscosity of cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene (HFO-1336mzz(Z)) over wide ranges of temperature and pressure. The experimental density measurements of HFO-1336mzz(Z) were carried out by a vibrating-tube densimeter over the temperature range 283–373 K and at pressures up to 100 MPa. The measured viscosity data were obtained by a vibrating-wire viscometer at temperatures from 253 to 353 K and pressures up to 40 MPa. In the density system, the co… Show more

“…R1336mzz(Z): since 2018 a total of 3 data sets (219 data) have been published in the peer-reviewed literature, two of them including data in the compressed liquid [97] are in line with those obtained by [168] for the compressed liquid (AAD% = 0.78), while data in the superheated vapor showed much higher deviations, with AAD% = 4.42 and MAD% = 28.56 (not shown in Fig. 13c).…”

“…Compressed liquid: the Sun et al (2019) [97] paper contains 137 density data distributed in the medium temperature range T r = 0.64 to 0.84 and a much wider pressure range P r = 0.035 to 34.55; the maximum reported pressure is 100 MPa, exceeding the validity range of the EoS used in REFPROP (P max = 46 MPa), so 40 points were excluded from the analysis. The data showed good agreement with REFPROP, with AAD% = 0.03% and MAD% = 0.11%.…”

“…A total of 15,122 experimental values of the pure fluids were available from NIST ThermoData Engine (TDE) database version 10 and the latest publications. For these pure fluids, the TDE database contains more than 400 literature sources, details of which are provided in the Supporting Information. The number of the literature sources for each pure fluid are listed in Table , varying from 1 for CF 3 I to 111 for n -hexane.…”

“…In addition, we adopt the critical temperature, pressure, and density consistent with this EOS, namely 444.5 K, 2.903 MPa, and 3.044 mol•l −1 (499.386 464 kg•m −3 ). The viscosity of R-1336mzz(Z) was investigated by Miyara et al [9] and Alam et al [10] and most recently by Sun et al [11] In a separate study, Alam et al [12] presented measurements of the thermal conductivity of R-1336mzz(Z) of the liquid and the gas phase at pressures to 4 MPa and also included simplified correlations for the thermal conductivity of both the saturated liquid and vapor. The data of Alam et al [12] were used to develop a corresponding-states-based model for the full thermal conductivity surface, [13] but the lack of adequate data over a wide range of temperatures and pressures limits model development.…”
