Measurement Models and Uncertainty

Abstract: To understand what measuring means, let's start from the definition of measurement, taken from the International Vocabulary of Metrology (VIM) [1]. MeasurementProcess of experimentally obtaining one or more quantity values that can reasonably be attributed to a quantity. So, a measurement process provides, as a part of the measurement result, one or more quantity values that can be attributed to a quantity intended to be measured, that is also called, always according to the VIM [1], measurand. To fully understa… Show more

“…large-scale IoT systems) where the data reliability and system stability are not guaranteed. This would negatively affect the fundamental items of dealing with uncertaintiescalibration (and system identification) and traceability [13]. A viable solution would be self-adaptive sensing with softcalibration using the acquired data, where yet again, signal and uncertainty modelling would play a central role in developing efficient and robust self-tuning algorithms.…”

“…It is a useful way to compare different sets of data as you can draw more than one boxplot per graph. For each investigated case 1,000 final measurements during 1 s were taken [44], [146]. selected frequency as sufficient [79].…”
