“…By setting the magnetic field under the control of a dedicated personal computer, TIMS works in a peak-hopping mode, in which the specified ion beam is directed to the detector in sequence, the computer acquires voltage data in a digital format as a measure of peak intensity, and calculate the specified isotope ratio. The characteristic of TIMS is the abundance sensitivity of 10 −10 –10 −11 at m / z 135, which is suitable for the analysis of 135 Cs and 137 Cs [ 61 ]. “…It is well known that in isotopic analysis using TIMS, choosing a proper activator can signicantly enhance the ion beam stability and ionization efficiency, which, in turn, improve the precision and accuracy of the measurements. Recently, Shibahara et al 23 have evaluated the ionization efficiency for the pure Cs sample using nine different additives on rhenium laments. This study indicated that even though silicotungstic acid showed the highest ionization efficiency, isobaric interferences due to polyatomic ions were the largest with this activator.…”
