Abstract: The author summarizes the various methods used in determining gas temperatures in an internal-combustion engine, giving complete references to the various papers and reports published on the subject. The purpose of this discussion is to consider the various methods of determining gas temperatures in an engine during the combustion and expansion periods and to evaluate critically results of such determinations.
