Measurement of inclusive $$\varvec{ep}$$ e p cross sections at high $${\varvec{Q}^{2}}$$ Q 2 at $$\varvec{\sqrt{s}}=225$$ s = 225 and 252 GeV and of the longitudinal proton structure function $${\varvec{F}_{\varvec{L}}}$$ F L at HERA

Abstract: Inclusive ep double differential cross sections for neutral current deep inelastic scattering are measured with the H1 detector at HERA. The data were taken with a lepton beam energy of 27.6 GeV and two proton beam energies of E p = 460 and 575 GeV corresponding to centre-of-mass energies † Deceased a e-mail: daum@mail. of 225 and 252 GeV, respectively. The measurements cover the region of 6.5 × 10 −4 ≤ x ≤ 0.65 for 35 ≤ Q 2 ≤ 800 GeV 2 up to y = 0.85. The measurements are used together with previously publish… Show more

“…The structure function F L in the denominator contains contributions involving powers of the strong coupling constant α S at an order that goes beyond the level reached in this analysis; hence, it will be consistently neglected (for measurements and estimates of the F L structure function see, e.g., refs. [28,29] and references therein).…”

“…These lower-energy measurements are the same ones used to determine the longitudinal structure function F L . Therefore, we exclude the previously used F L [25] data from the present fit to avoid any double counting, and for the same reason we do not include any other of the updated F L extractions at HERA [84,85]. For completeness, in NNPDF3.0 Table 1.…”

“…One of the key goals of the present analysis is to understand the impact of the higher-twist corrections on the parton The predictions for F L from the HTS fit compared to the H1 data [13]. Also shown are twist 2 (dashed green line) and twist 4 (dotted purple line) contributions density functions.…”
