Measurement of 232Th (n, γ) cross section at the CSNS Back-n facility in the unresolved resonance region from 4 keV to 100 keV

Abstract: The neutron capture cross section of 232Th was measured at the neutron time-of-flight facility Back-n of China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) for the first time. The measurement was performed with 4 hydrogen-free deuterated benzene C6D6 liquid scintillation detectors, in the ES#2 experiment station on the beam line, at a distance of about 76 m from the neutron-production assembly. The total energy detection principle in combination with the Pulse Height Weighting Technique (PHWT) was applied to analyze the m… Show more

“…From Fig. 5, we can see that pixel3 [223,3] is damaged when the accumulated neutron fluence is about 5×10 9 neutrons•cm −2 . However, when it is irradiated again at nearly 1700 s a little displacement damage appears.…”

“…The China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) is a scientific facility that can provide a wide energy band of pulsed neutrons. [1][2][3] The back-streaming white neutron source (Back-n) has been exploited as a white neutron beamline which has a wide neutron energy spectrum from eV to hundreds of MeV. It can be used for nuclear data measurement, neutron resonance radiography and analysis of radiation damage.…”
