Measurement of the absolute branching fraction forD0K

Abstract: Using 1.79 fb _1 of data recorded by the CLEO II detector we have measured the absolute branching fraction for D° -• K~w + . The angular correlation between the 7r + emitted in the decay D* + -• L>°7r + , and the jet direction in e + e~ -• cc events, is used to determine the total number of inclusive D° mesons produced from this source. The subsequent reconstruction of the decay chain D* + -> D°ir + , D° -• K~ir~*~ allows a measurement of the absolute D° -• K~TT~*~ branching fraction. Correcting for decay radi… Show more

“…(23) can be obtained from the available data of D + →K 0 π + , D 0 → K − π + andK 0 π 0 . Using the PDG values for the decay rates of D + →K 0 π + , D 0 →K 0 π 0 [6] and the updated result for the branching ratio of D 0 → K − π + [19], Br(D 0 → K − π + ) = (3.90 ± 0.16)%, which is the weighted average of previous measurements and the new CLEO result of (3.95 ± 0.08 ± 0.17)% [19], we obtain (for simplicity, δK π 1/2 and δK π 3/2 are assumed to be real)…”
