Measurements of Higgs boson production cross sections and couplings in the diphoton decay channel at $$ \sqrt{\mathrm{s}} $$ = 13 TeV

Abstract: Measurements of Higgs boson production cross sections and couplings in events where the Higgs boson decays into a pair of photons are reported. Events are selected from a sample of proton-proton collisions at $$ \sqrt{s} $$ s = 13 TeV collected by the CMS detector at the LHC from 2016 to 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb−1. Analysis categories enriched in Higgs boson events produced via gluon fusion, vector boson… Show more

“…The latest ATLAS measurements report R γγ = 1.03 ± 0.11 [39,40], whereas the CMS finds R γγ = 1.12 ± 0.09 [41,42]. In the present framework, the previous ratio translates into the measurement of the relative branching ratios…”

“…2 Here the K-factor is defined as the ratio between the NNLO and LO predictions. The couplings are varied in the range c hhh ∈ [−5, 10], c ggh ∈ [−0.2, 0.4] and c tt ∈ [−1, 1.5], motivated by current limits [12,13,[59][60][61][62] in a conservative way. In both cases we set c t = 1 and the remaining couplings to zero, except in the c hhh -c ggh case where we additionally set c gghh = c ggh /2 in order to mimic the SMEFT situation, where the latter couplings are not independent of each other.…”

“…The chosen range for each coefficient is motivated by current experimental constraints [12,13,[59][60][61][62]. However, since these limits are not based on a simultaneous fit of all the couplings under consideration here, we have conservatively increased the allowed range of variation.…”

“…The study of Higgs couplings intensifies, in the context of the Simplified Template Cross Section (STXS) framework, in particular in the γγ [31] and ZZ * [32,33] decay modes. The kinematic complementarity of the two modes is exploited to study for the first time the CP structure of the t tH coupling [34].…”
