Abstract:The impact parameter dependence of the K-vacancy production probability in 1.4 MeV/N collisions between very heavy ions and atoms has been determined by K x-rayscattered particle coincidence measurements. The results are interpreted in terms of the molecular lso-and 2pa excitation probabilities. From a comparison to two empirical models a connection between these models is obtained and the energy transfers involved are extracted.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
