Measuring and Improving User Experience Through Artificial Intelligence-Aided Design

Abstract: This paper aims to propose a methodology for measuring user experience (UX) by using artificial intelligence-aided design (AIAD) technology in mobile application design. Unlike the traditional assistance design tools, AIAD focuses on the rational use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to measure and improve UX since conventional data collection methods (such as user interview and user observation) for user behavior data are inefficient and time-consuming. We propose to obtain user behavior data from lo… Show more

“…Verganti et al (2020) defines design practice as "the phenomenology of design in a specific context: its process ("how" design decisions are made; through which phases, methods, tools, or collaborative practices) and the object of design (which design decisions are made; which novel solution it creates, whether a good, service, or process)", and design principles as "the perspective and philosophy that inform the act of designing, and that constitute an ontology of what design is". UX is defined by Yang et al (2020) as:"…an overall experience, which includes all aspects of user interaction with products or services". On the other hand, UX has been defined as "…a person's perceptions and responses resulting from the use and/or anticipated use of a product, system or service, including all the users ' emotions, beliefs, preferences, perceptions, physical and psychological responses, behaviors and accomplishments that occur before, during and after use" (ISO 9241-210:2010).…”

“…In addition, each phase in the process can be related to different UX-activities, thus providing more detail on how such process change with the introduction of AI (Park et al, 2013;B. Yang et al, 2020).…”

“…In recent years, with the increase of users' demand for experience, scholars' research on user experience has been deepened and the application area of research has been expanded, and user experience has been gradually applied to the field of enterprise marketing (Ogara et al, 2014;Yang et al, 2020). Schmitt (1999) defined user experience as a direct observation and feeling that arise from an individual's personal involvement in an activity, which originates from stimulation of the senses, mind, and heart to induce the perception of individual events, and there are no two experiences that are exactly the same.…”

“…However, the wide sharing and rapid dissemination of design artworks have brought about serious problems of design homogeneity. Since the main visual features in image design can well re ect the designer's ideas and creativity [11]. The similarity evaluation of the main visual features is not only conducive to Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) but also helps to detect plagiarism of design concepts, which is of great signi cance for cultural protection and copyright protection.…”
