Measuring Descriptive Representation at Scale: Methods for Predicting the Race and Ethnicity of Public Officials

Abstract: Political scientists have increasingly relied on Bayesian Improved Surname Geocoding (BISG) to predict individual-level race and ethnicity using surnames and geographic information.
